What is the SEV project?
SEV stands for schooling of Vulnerable Children
This is one of the projects put forward by GHOC this academic year to raise finances so as to pay fees for vulnerable children and provide their school needs. This project ties with our mission and values which is to assist by raising funds for the Education of vulnerable children.
What is GHOC?
GHOC stands for Give Hope to Our Children. It is a not profit organization created with the aim of finding funds to provide quality education for vulnerable children in our society.
Why emphasis on quality education?
Quality education aims to ensure the development of a fully-rounded human being. It is one of the most powerful tools in lifting socially excluded children and adults out of poverty and into society. GHOC is committed to providing education of good standard.
Who are those to benefit from this project?
The children benefiting from funds raised by the association are mostly orphans, internally displaced and special needs children. These are also children who have been affected by Boko Haram crisis in the Far North region and the Anglophone Crisis in the Northwest and South west Region of the country. At the moment GHOC has 160 registered children from this crisis zones.
Why is GHOC particular about education?
The right to education is a fundamental right.
Article 26 of the universal Declaration of Human rights regardless stipulates that every child, of age, sex, race, social status is entitled to elementary education at the very least. That has not been the case for everyone as some children are faced with difficult social situations that has led them to be removed from school.
Why vulnerable children?
Vulnerable children such as orphans and internally displaced children are twice more likely to end up uneducated that all other children. As such GHOC would like to direct our efforts to help these children who have been met with unfortunate life situations. An uneducated person would easily become a plague to the society.GHOC is here to prevent that.
What are some of the difficulties faced with this project?
The main difficulty faced is the lack of funds. With the fast approaching new academic year, we are yet to secure adequate funding for all the children registered at the 3 GHOC centers in the country.
How can anyone contribute to this project?
We welcome both material and financial support.
Financial support goes to pay the school fees of the children. This support can either be done physically by bringing the articles to the GHOC center (Ancien Route Bonaberi, Behind Boulangerie du lycée) or though digitally through the means provided on all our social media pages.
